WHY IT’S SAFER – The Baby Bundle
Beautycounter’s Baby line is ultra-gentle. Its safer formulas are specially made with fewer ingredients for more delicate skin. Babies can easily absorb chemicals through their skin and may be more vulnerable to the effects than adults.
Beautycounter’s ingredients, like nourishing organic oils, butters, and plant sources are used instead of fragrances, contaminants, preservatives, and other potential carcinogens.

WHY IT’S SAFER – countertime collection
Retinol is a go-to ingredient in many anti-aging skin-care products. Based on our own scientific research, Beautycounter has chosen not to use retinol due to potential safety concerns, including skin irritation and sun sensitivity.
For us, it wasn’t worth taking a risk on retinol—which is why we created our plant-derived Retinatural Complex, proven to give results that are comparable to retinol using two clean, groundbreaking ingredients: bakuchiol and Swiss Alpine rose.

WHY IT’S SAFER – The countermatch collection
Our Countermatch products are formulated without silicones or synthetic polymers. Instead, it relies on plant derived ingredients, such as squalene, to hydrate the skin.
Harsh sulfates, such as SLS and SLES, are found in many face cleansers and can cause skin irritation. We use Jojoba Seed Oil.
Body lotions offer the most exposure to potentially toxic ingredients since there is more skin to cover. Ours is free from PEGs, synthetic fragrances, mineral oils, and silicones and instead uses 100% naturally-derived ingredients to nourish skin.
Another scary biggie in some skin care products is formaldehyde. Um……NO THANK YOU!

WHY IT’S SAFER – the nourishing collection
Other personal care products include sulfate-based cleansers that can cause dryness and irritation. We use gentle, plant derived ingredients.
Also, instead of using mineral oil in our products (which can impair cell turnover necessary for the regeneration of healthy skin), we use coconut oil.
The countercontrol collection
The Countercontrol Collection is one of our newest face regimes and it’s been wildly popular. It’s a powerful regimen for oily and blemish/acne prone skin without the irritation that can result from other treatments.
Enter teens and tweens. We all know how concerned they are about appearance at that age. And, having a pimple the size of Mount Vesuvius is fun for no one lol!

why it’s safer – Countercontrol collection
Countercontrol treats the main causes of acne while maintaining skin’s healthy microflora to keep skin in balance. Other conventional acne and oil control products can strip skin of both bad and good bacteria, leaving it red, dry and irritated. WHY IT’S SAFER – Counterman collection
Some conventional men’s products are formulated with harsh irritants and synthetic fragrances that can be harmful to human health. Instead, we use a combination of plant and coconut derived cleansing ingredients, along with natural extracts and oils to deliver an energizing scent and rich moisturizing properties.

WHY IT’S SAFER – countersun
We use physical sunscreens (known as mineral sunscreen) that sit on the surface of the skin and physically bounce or reflect the sun’s rays away from the skin. We prohibit SPF filters because they have a high potential of irritating skin.
Since Beautycounter is a BCorp, we are environmentally conscious and pay careful attention to how we treat it. We never use Octinoxate or Oxybenzone, which are ingredients known to contribute to the collapse of coral reefs around the world.
What I love about the mineral sunscreen is that it’s great for people with sensitive skin, babies and kids and a much safer option all the way around.

Instead of using potentially harmful sulfate-based surfactants, preservatives, or other synthetic fragrances, we use ingredients derived from coconut oil.

Let’s talk about face oils. I could go on and on about them (in a good way)! There’s a common misconception out there that if you use them, it will cause your face to be oily, but that’s not actually true at all!
There are so many ways oils can help your skin. All I can say is GAME CHANGER!!!! Our Overnight Resurfacing Peel has quickly become one of my very favorite products and awesome doesn’t even begin to describe it!
This peel is liquid gold in a jar – it promotes cellular turnover for a smoother complexion, reduces the appearance of fine lines, minimizes the appearance of pores, evens skin tone and reduces the appearance of dark spots. It does it all!

WHY IT’S SAFER – overnight resurfacing peel
What makes our resurfacing peel so safe is that it’s formulated without synthetic fragrances, PEGs and formaldehyde-based preservatives commonly found in other peels.
Many other peels use high levels of 1 or 2 resurfacing acids that may cause irritation. Bye Felicia!
Instead of using unsafe ingredients, our peel uses a combination of both resurfacing acids and soothing acids that hydrate, replenish and protect skin. This combination helps maintain the right PH level so your skin doesn’t become irritated.

Let’s chat a bit about makeup. Yall, not going to lie when I tell you that I never thought that even makeup could have a bunch of crap/fillers/lead/heavy metals (not the 80’s hairband kind)…like literal heavy metals.

We are very selective when it comes to pigments. Each batch of color cosmetics is third-party tested for heavy metals and often have zero or “no detect” levels. We’ve set our allowable limits below even the most health-protective standards in the world.

Why it’s safer – Eyes
Mascaras often contain emollients and emulsifiers known as polyethylene glycols (PEGs) that may be contaminated with known carcinogens, where as our mascaras use plant-derived conditioners. To create volume, we use natural fibers instead of irritating synthetic fibers.
